Invisible No More: Why Women Over 50 Need to Stop Being Polite and Start Being Loud

There is a strange phenomenon that happens to women over 50. We walk down the street, and heads no longer turn. We speak in meetings, and the room moves on. We feel invisible.

For high-achieving women who have built careers on competence, this shift can feel like a death. It feels like a loss of identity. But I am here to tell you: Invisibility is a lie.

The "Crone" Initiation In ancient cultures, the post-menopausal woman was the Crone—the holder of truth. She was the most powerful person in the village. In our culture, we are told to buy anti-aging cream and stay quiet. This discrepancy causes deep internal conflict. You know more than you ever have, but you feel heard less.

The Throat Chakra: The Bridge The Throat Chakra is the bridge between the heart (what you feel) and the mind (what you think). When we suppress our needs to please others (self-neglect), this bridge collapses.

  • Do you constantly clear your throat?

  • Do you have thyroid issues?

  • Do you get a literal "lump in your throat" when you try to say "No"? That is your body screaming at you to speak up.

The Fix: The Lion’s Roar We cannot "think" our way out of silence. We have to use the body. In today's episode, I teach the Lion’s Roar. It is a feral, somatic yoga breath where you stick out your tongue and roar from your belly. It looks ridiculous. And it feels like freedom.

Burn the Cloak Your next chapter requires your voice. Do not let the world mute you.
